Buddy Bill is the long time owner of a local bait shop at Lake Monroe- Buddy Bills Bait Barn, as well as a dairy farmer, active in local politics, and school board. Don Jordan has written his weekly newspaper outdoors column Inside Outdoors, since 1973 when he worked for the now-defunct Bloomington Courier-Tribune. The column has appeared many other newspapers since 1975. He has been an active member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America since 1973. Jordan served as a corresponding editor of Environment Magazine and has written for a wide variety of outdoor, sports and environmental publications. He has received reporting awards from the Audubon Society, the Izaak Walton League and United Press International. He was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 1976 for his investigative reporting on PCB environmental pollution discharged in Bloomington, Ind., by Westinghouse Electric Corp. As an educator, Jordan taught Journalism and Anthropology at Indiana University, and the University of Wisconsin at Superior, and was a faculty member at Indiana University’s College for Gifted and Talented Children. Jordan is also a Vietnam vet serving with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 173rd Airborne Brigade as an infantry lieutenant and commander of the 46th Public Information Detachment at Bong Son in 1970. He recieved the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals.
